[Duo has taken up refuge in the spare bedroom at Leon's for the time being (at least until he's allowed to leave the house). He looks at the screen, a small black smudge running in a line under one eye.]

Uh, hey there, Gaignun. This...is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but do you guys have a soldering iron in the house? Some of the wires on this thing I'm working on are frayed all to hell and I don't have the rest of my stuff to fix it up the way it needs to be. I would have just asked in person, but I don't know who is in the house when so I figured a message like this would be okay and now I'm rambling so I'm just going to sit back and try to see what I can actually do to this thing.

[He rubs at the smudge under his eye, which only causes it to smear more before he actually cuts the feed.]

Don't worry Duo, it's not a stupid question. And yes we have one, I know where it is. I can bring it upstairs for you if you'd like.

[A while later he'll knock at the door to Duo's hidey hole with the requested soldering iron]

Duo?

The door's unlocked.

[Be careful when you come in, Gaignun. Half of the floor is covered in tools and bits of different kinds of small machines. Duo's in the middle of it all, using some wire cutters to cut at the inside of a mutant of a power drill.]

[Thankfully Gaignun is used to that. Things everywhere...]

So what's the matter with it?

I think I missed some wires when I first put the thing together. And all the moving around in my duffel bag with all those blunt tools didn't help matters any.

[He motions to several tools pushed to the side with the wire cutters before looking up at Gaignun and then the soldering iron.]

It works, then? If I'm lucky, I can get these wires put together and be done with it. My poor Frankendrill shouldn't have had to go through all that, but it--

[He stops and looks down at his lap.]

That bag was packed to go after the Beast...

[With a shake of his head, he looks back up at Gaignun and offers a small smile.]

Sorry. I'm rambling.

[Gaignun shook his head] It's fine, don't worry about it. Are you alright? You look tired.

I'm...[Nope, he still can't lie. And saying that he was fine was a definite lie.]...better. I just needed something to keep me busy since I've been all but ordered to stay in the house.

[Duo sets the wire cutters down next to him and picks up a pair of needlenose pliers to connect the cut wires.]

I didn't want the animals to get into any of this stuff, either. 'Specially that yipping rat. [Oh yeah, he's still sore about that.] Last thing I need is to explain why him or the cat got turned into a ball of electric poof.

House arrest huh? Don't worry Duo, Jr will calm down soon. As for the yipping rat...no matter what you do he'll probably get into it.

...It's actually Jenny who's got me under house arrest. This and the punch she threw at me are my punishment for doing something she highly disapproved of.

[He shrugs as he sets down the pliers, his hands now free to rub his face.]

Is that soldering iron one that runs on batteries or needs to be plugged in?

Either thankfully. [Well, Jenny must really disapprove.]

So did she give you a parole date or are you in for an indefinite sentence?

[He holds his hand out for the soldering iron while offering a quiet thanks and a shrug.]

Pretty sure that it's just until she thinks that I've suffered enough. Working like this helps, but since most of this stuff was suppose to be used on the Beast and not to actually be put back together, I'm limited on what I can do.

Mmm...[Gaignun looked around the room] Well, if you need anything from the outside, just let me know. I'll probably be able to get it for you.

My things are scattered between the church, the old house, the new place, and the scrapyard. You sure you want to offer that?

[He smirks up at Gaignun as he switches the soldering iron on. He props it up against something to keep the tip from burning anything as it heats up.]

Honestly, if I had my good tools, I'd be able to work on things around here if I was given the okay for it.

[He lifts the soldering iron and places the heated tip of it carefully against the wires of Frankendrill. It doesn't take much to fuse the wires together, and it isn't long before Duo has the soldering iron shut off and resting against its previous prop to allow him to wrap the wires in tape and replace the casing on the drill.]

This is a pleasant place to work.

I don't mind, I find myself with lots of free time in this place.

[Duo continues working on putting the casing back on the drill.]

What I did to get locked up.

[He glances up at Gaignun with a grin as the casing goes back into place.]

Most people would be either giving me a hard time or hounding me for details. But not you. You just let it go.

Well, you already said this is punishment, so I assume that you did something to make Jenny really worried and angry at you.

[Besides, he figures he'll hear about it eventually, and he doesn't know Duo well enough to completely grill him about things yet.]

[He looks around at his mess before lifting the now cooled soldering iron and passing it off to Gaignun.]

For not asking, I mean. You're right about it, but I still appreciate you not pushing it.

[Mental note: let Duo come to you with stuff.]

You're welcome. It's probably pretty embarrassing or annoying for you.

More annoying than embarrassing, to be quite honest.

[He begins sorting through the stuff on the floor, separating them into keep and trash piles. Not surprisingly, more of the bits and pieces of things are put into a trash pile.]

Should be grateful. It'll be fine now.

[Other such mutters travel under his breath before he blinks, realizing Gaignun is still in the room...where he can be heard.]

...Uh...sorry...

What are you apologizing for? [He's got nothing else to do so he'll hang about unless Duo wants him to leave.]

My...mouth tends to run and run and run without me wanting it to.

[He sighs and he runs his fingers through his bangs.]
