I'll be there in a few.

[And about fifteen minutes later Angeal raised his fist and knocked on the door to the house, nervous as all hell. He shouldn't be here, he should leave this alone, it didn't matter, but even still, it was bothering him despite all of that. He wanted to know what was going on that Sephiroth saw and why he would even ask such a question. Angeal could only hoped he didn't end up hurting Gaignun in the process thereof.]

[Gaignun opened the door fairly quickly, as Angeal had said, it was cold out and he didn't want the poor guy to be stuck out in the cold for very long.]

Come on in, you look like a snowman.

[With a small nod, Angeal tried to kick as much snow off of his boots as he could before going inside. Once that was done he took them off and set them aside. Next off, Angeal hung his coat up.

He hadn't been..here since the sleeping epidemic where he'd played nursemaid too, to help out. But Gaignun had been his main patient and turns had been taken to watch over another.]

The snow has to end sometime.

It will. Kazul tried to go out and play in it earlier but ended up not really liking the cold. However, she's found a warm nest in the house but she refuses to let me know where it is.

[He has his suspicions of course, mainly to do with that box of feathers that Angeal had given him, but he isn't sure how Angeal would take it so he wont really explain that.]

Come and sit down, I think I've managed to make the tea right this time.

I see.

[His steps felt heavy as he followed Gaignun over to the table and sat down. The last time they'd had tea..Angeal had asked advice. This time it was another question but nothing like before.

Angeal went through the motions of making the tea and just kept stirring it, his thoughts pretty much whirling like the tea was right now.]

You're welcome. [Gaignun waited until they were both settled in before speaking again.]

So what is it that you wanted to talk about?

[Trust Gaignun not to use that smooth sliding introduction to a topic. And they'd already discussed the weather, so..that must be it for polite conversation. Taking a deep breath, Angeal didn't know what he was bracing for, but he could feel himself tensing up though he was trying not to show it. He'd been dealing with this on his own ever since Sephiroth pricked at him weeks ago and had discussed it with no one.

Knowing it wasn't polite to place elbows on the table, Angeal tightened his hands into clenched fists hidden away under the table as he spoke.]

Sephiroth said something odd to me regarding you when I saw him a few weeks ago. When I told him I was seeing someone he asked me if it was you.

[Angel fixed his gaze on Gaignun with an almost pained look.]

I wanted to know if you had any idea why he would ask me that.

[Well now, that certainly had not been the topic he was expecting. Sephiroth had thought that? Well, to be fair some of their conversations could have been called flirting, or at least playful along those lines. Perhaps Sephiroth had picked up on that?

Or maybe he was like those fangirls that 'shipped' things based on compatibility. Well, perhaps there may have been something like that behind some of Gaignun's words, but he'd never been too serious about it. While Angeal was his type, he simply was not ready to actually be actively involved with anyone else...whatever the case this was going to be an interesting discussion.]

I may have a few ideas...Though I'm wondering if he thought some of our conversations were actually flirting.

[Look Angeal, he's not laughing at you, in fact he's taking your question seriously]

[Quietly Angeal turned away after Gaignun spoke, looking back at his tea cup. Why would Sephiroth take an interest in his love life or Gaignun's? It made no sense to Angeal at all. He was the very epitome of the Least Interesting First Class Ever and even Zack had hounded him for awhile about finding someone for awhile. And it all just confused and distressed Angeal to no end.]

Care to clue me in?

[He's still waiting for that laughter. Just because it's not present now doesn't mean it can't happen later.]

[Angeal's body language seemed to suggest that there was something else behind this line of questioning, and Gaignun was bound and determined to figure it out so that the could at least make Angeal feel better.]

Well, it could be the way I speak to you, considering most of our conversations are open and playful, not to mention full of teaseing. It may have sounded a lot like flirtation due to the bits and pieces of political shmooze speak that slip in from time to time. And when he saw you responding in kind maybe he thought something was up.

Or maybe I'm completely off base and he thought we'd be a good match up, I don't know.

[He followed most of that conversation until the political thing. But he didn't let it trip him up too badly because he had to focus on the rest of the conversation first. Angeal went to say something and shut his mouth, picking up his tea cup to swirl the contents in it gently.

Well Gaignun hadn't laughed so far, and hadn't said anything else so maybe it was just all in Sephiroth's head. But he could use what was said before and reiterated it still looking into the tea cup]

Similar personalities maybe.

Maybe. [Gaignun smiled a little at Angeal, glad that he'd moved to actually attempting to drink his tea instead of just playing with it.]

Though, I think it's actually a compliment that he thought we'd be good together.

[Now that had Angeal almost spill his cup so he put it down immediately. A compliment? How? Why? Blue eyes gazed over at Gaignun confusedly. He'd never be good enough for Gaignun, he who walked among the rich and had their class, good graces and manners. Angeal was just a country bumpkin and paid soldier. Not to mention Gaignun was straight, had two female lovers and the list went on.]

How do you figure?

[Angeal, dude, you know Gaignun's origins were all but high society. And if you ask about Mary and Shelly he will tell you that theirs wasn't that high either. Class never really mattered to him.]

Sephiroth cares a lot of about you, and it makes me happy that he would have trusted me with you like that. [Well, Gaignun is assuming that Sephiroth didn't say it out of hostility, he figured Angeal would have added that in if Seph had.]

Also, I've told you before that you're a prime catch.

[Headache oncoming. Angeal never believed he was a prime catch no matter who told him that because all he could see was his list of flaws and that was the truth. So he shook his head and stared at the cup some more.]

He was wrong. You have two women back home that can show up.

[Which effectively would have shut him regardless because he's more than sure they still love Gaignun.]

[Aaah, Gaignun is beginning to see the whole picture. Or at least he believes so]

Mary and Shelly have nothing to do with the fact Sephiroth thought we would have been compatible.

[Subject change.]

So tell me about them.

Alright. [As much as Gaignun misses his girls, he loves talking about them.]

I met them about 13 years ago, when me and Rubedo were 14. They were guinea pigs for a pharmaceutical company and we rescued them. That was one of the last mercenary type missions I went on before I was press ganged into learning how to function in political society.

Even though they're sisters, they're very different from each other. Mary speaks with a boarder planet accent and is more rough and tumble then Shelly is. She often goes along with Jr when he's on away missions. Shelly is the older one. She's calm and serene most of the time and incredibly intelligent. She handles a lot of the foundation and Durandal coordination stuff.

[Angeal can hear the warmth in the tone as Gaignun goes on about these women that he obviously was in love with. Score another point for Angeal being right and Sephiroth being wrong. Forbidden and unattainable fruit, and that's where it stayed as it always had. With a sigh Angeal finally started to relax because now there was no need to ask any of his other awkward questions that didn't need answers. He'd gotten all of the information he needed by Gaignun's tone and expression.]

Are they..URTV's like you and Rubedo?

[Gaignun shook his head] No, they were normal humans who were experimented on in various ways throughout their childhood. They could speak telepathically to each other but they had to be physically hooked up to something with wires in order to do so.

I didn't think we'd end up all together at first, but the more dates I went on with other girls and guys...it just worked best with them. Admittedly at first I used them as a bit of a social shield and living security blankets. Since Jr didn't age we had to keep him out of the spotlight while I was learning to be in it...hahah, I used to get so nervous if I had to go to parties by myself.

[Hear that Angeal. AND GUYS? Xenosagaverse's big phobia is xeno, not gender related.]

[Experimented on humans, Angeal couldn't help but slightly cringe at that. Every member of SOLDIER was a living walking talking science experiment in some form or fashion. And he'd told Unohana as much during his check up.

And when Gaignun mentioned dates with guys he almost choked on his tea. Still he couldn't help but set the tea down as he brought an arm to cover his mouth as he coughed. And when Angeal was done coughing, he realized it made sense. Of course men would be attracted to him. And with the wealth, anyone would be lucky to land Gaignun.]

I have a hard time imagining you nervous at a social function.

Well, it's true. There was a long period of transition between being Nigredo the URTV and Gaignun Kukai, the son of Suze Kukai the wealthy industrialist. I hated them, I didn't know what to do, I didn't really understand what those kind of people wanted from me yet...

Being hit on for the first time was an eye opening experience, let me tell you...Even with all the book training and social tutoring I had to go through, a lot of that can't be taught without actual experience.

[Gaignun got an embarrassed look on his face.] I even hid under a table once, hoping they wouldn't make me go. Of course Helmer was smart and made Rubedo go find me.

[The image of Gaignun being hit on and hiding under a desk made Angeal laugh.]

I cannot imagine you being ill at ease when someone hits on you. I'd imagine you had to be beating your admirers off with a stick. I'm surprised as it is here that you don't have that. But there's still time.

Well, you saw me briefly as Nigredo, that transition period took a very very long time, and some bits went more slowly then others.

Admittedly I was rather popular with people because of my looks, and eventually the personality I was able to develop helped with that. But thanks to Mary and Shelly that eventually died off to a more manageable trickle. Being off the market does wonders for that.

...Thankfully I know Jr will treat them well.

[As always when Angeal thought of that wide eyed boy, he closed his eyes and shut down for a moment. That little boy needed tons of hugs and bedtime stories, not the horrors of war and death.

And with the last part, Angeal opened his eyes and took a sip of tea this time. Right Gaignun was dead and not interested in anyone here because of his girls. And Angeal could absolutely respect and understand that.]

I'm sure he will.
