Name: Gaignun Kukai, AKA URTV #669 Nigredo
Age: 26
Canon: Xenosaga 1,2 and 3
Pull Point: Just after he disappears while killing Dmitri Yuriev. So...death pretty much.
Background Info:
History: General series history,A little on the URTV's in general,Gaignun in specific
Personality:
As a child, Gaignun, or Nigredo/Unit #669 as he was called back then, was the most quiet and reserved of the URTV variants, hanging back and observing what was going on instead of involving himself directly in the situation unless necessary. He did not show emotion in large ways, but instead kept them very subdued. But at the Yuriev institute, Nigredo was somewhat of a platypus. Being a variant, he was not welcome among the standard model URTV's, and while Rubedo and Albedo were more accepting, he still was not part of their twin bond, and so wasn't part of that small group completely either. His design as the fail-safe in case Rubedo's 'Red Dragon' powers went out of control gave him a connection to the female variant, Citrine, but even she did not share his additional design as being Dmitri Yuriev's next host body. He did not have a place where he fit completely with someone. Still, while he felt lonely, this didn't stop him from following his brothers as much as they would allow like a typical younger brother. He cared deeply for the both of them (and for Citrine too), and tried to play peacekeeper whenever he could. However, he would get genuinely distressed if there was nothing he could do and he had to watch them suffer at all.
Even during the worst parts of the Militian conflict, after being separated from his brothers and having to deal with all the infected URTV's, Nigredo did not panic (much), he kept his head and kept his focus on finding Rubedo so that they could get the heck out of dodge. After being heavily wounded by various things, his first thought is still for Rubedo, telling him to 'let it go', right before they were found by chaos and Canaan. He knew that Rubedo was still upset about what had happened and was feeling a lot of guilt and tried to make him feel better.
As a grown up, Gaignun seems like your typical benevolent CEO. He's calm, charismatic, and kind, almost like a father figure, especially towards those he is very close to. He prefers that things run smoothly and knows that you catch more flies with honey then with vingar. While all of this is not a front, there is certainly more to him then that. Gaigun is genuinely a kind person, but it stems more from a desire to have the people around him be happy and secure, a want he has had since childhood, with its root in trying to keep his brothers content. This of course was a very difficult task because Rubedo and Albedo had the most up and down relationship in the history of mankind. Still, he loved them dearly and did the best he could. However, that does not mean that Gaignun is easy to push around. He does have a backbone and has no qualms about putting his foot down if something is starting to go out of place. Being politically very adroit and well connected, this 'foot' is usually just the right words to certain people. He is well spoken, and enjoys literature as much as his brothers do. However, he does not tend to sprinkle his speech with anachronisms like them, though he understands all the references. He also has a taste for sarcasm and uses it to either show fondness or to gently chide someone.
Gaignun takes responsibility very seriously, from looking after the foundation to making sure Jr doesn't shoot holes in everything. Someone has to be the mature brother after all. If he sets out to accomplish something, he'll go at it until it is finished. But this is counter balanced by the fact that he is also running away from the very duties that was installed in him from birth. He shot Dmitri in the mistaken belief that that would prevent his father from taking over, and he absolutely refuses to kill Jr. He never shared his knowledge of these two duties with his brothers, believing that it was his problem to take care of, and that it would only make things worse. Even after Dmitri takes him over, he constantly struggles against his father and his design, hoping to take his body back and to stop what his father plans to do. However, the part of him that wants to make people happy also includes his father, which makes the struggle difficult. Eventually, at the end of it all, Gaignun does regain control and accepts what he was designed to do. Denying this would be to deny his own existence, as he tells Jr. Still, in all of this, he sacrifices himself gladly for his brothers mental good, reuniting them in one body as they were meant to be, as well as freeing himself from his most hated fate. If he's dead, he can't kill Rubedo, right?
For all of his good qualities, Gaignun is still very human. He often plays things a little too close to the vest, and his desire to make people happy also means that he tries to deal with his most important problems by himself. While he can and does ask Jr for help quite often, he does as much as he can himself with out even mentioning the details to his older brother. Things that are considered his own personal problems, or things that have been dealt with are pushed aside and under the table. After all, what use would it be to emotionally upset his brother with things past. He is not always completely calm and in control. If you know what buttons to push he can get very flustered, and lash out in anger. This always passes quickly but it comes with very little warning.
Thankfully he is not all about self sacrifice and work. Gaignun enjoys creature comforts, and while it can be said that his well manicured appearance would be mainly for impressing important people, he likes looking good. Though his sense of style mainly could be classified as classy and dignified, he does enjoy having splashes of colour and personality here and there. He knows he looks good and only half of it is posturing. The other half is just natural inclination.
Game Specific:
Arcana: Hermit
Justification: Gaigun is intelligent and cautious. He likes to have a plan for things, even if it is one that had to be thought of on his feet. He also is more then happy to offer advice or comfort to those who ask. Being a highly placed political figure, he also is very good at the art of discretion. Unfortunately, because he tries to protect everyone, he keeps a few too many secrets which end up just isolating him.

[The video clicks on, showing a black haired man with a mild look of surprise on his face. He's a little confused so you'll have to bare with him.]
So that button is the same...[Oh. Right. Broadcasting. He clears his throat]
I suppose I should go out on a limb and assume that this is not where I was supposed to end up. For one thing it's a little too quaint for my tastes.
Would someone be kind enough to tell me what is going on here? Or at least where this place is? I'm a little lost here.
[His slightly befuddled smile never wavers, but to those who know him well, those green eyes are trying to conceal a lot of background stress. Dying will do that to a guy.]
Third Person Sample:
This was wrong. This could not be the afterlife. He felt too alive, and he felt too alone. No bastard of a father making snide comments about how 'unruly' his children were, and no sense of connection to the URTV mental link. Alone. In his own head. All he could hear was the blood rushing through his veins and the faint pounding of his heart. His hands shook and to calm them he shoved them in his pockets. It was odd, having control of his hands again. Still, that was eclipsed by the shock of finding something IN his pocket. Blinking, he pulled it out and turned it over in his hands. A communication device? Well, it couldn't hurt. In lieu of finding a manual in his other pocket, he did the only other thing he could think of, looking at the buttons carefully he pushed the ones that looked familiar.
So much for his dramatic exit stage right.
